On December 4, 2024, the Youth Development Resources Center in Hebron hosted Amy Tohill, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), alongside Mercy Corps Country Director Nicole Hark, Chief of Party of the PYE Program Nermeen Obeidat, and representatives from local partners, in a remarkable event that featured the opening of the newly established safe space within the center.
This safe space aims to provide a comfortable environment for youth to engage in various activities that enhance their skills and capabilities, encouraging positive participation in their communities.
The event also included the closing ceremony of the second phase of the “Digital Content and Youth Solutions” program, which is part of the “Positive Youth Engagement” Program. The ceremony highlighted the achievements of the participating youth, showcasing their creative outputs and the milestones accomplished by the Youth Development Resource Center under the program.
A dynamic panel discussion brought together representatives from safe spaces in Dura, Al-Shuyukh, Bani Na’im, and Hebron. The participants discussed the impact of the “Positive Youth Engagement” program on strengthening their institutional capacities and supporting their local communities. Additionally, trainers from the program shared their personal experiences, shedding light on how the training positively affected them, the participants, and the broader community.
The event concluded with the recognition of youth participants, who were awarded certificates of achievement for their contributions to the “Digital Content and Youth Solutions” program.
The day was filled with positive energy and inspiring accomplishments, marking the end of an important phase of the program while fueling hope for continued progress and a brighter future.
The Positive Youth Engagement (PYE) is implemented by Mercy Corps and Funded by USAID.
